Research for Movable Wall in the Stage/Activity Room

From last week feedback, I did some research on movable wall for stage space. How the wall can easy to move during the festival. I think to use timber movable wall with glass folding window together would be good way. I also summarized the function for each space during normal working days and festival days. How many people will use each space and who will goign to use it. After that, I found staff office and workshop areas are not big enought. Therefore, I add second lelve above the tutorial classroom. This way can make roof garden easy to link with ground level and make circulation good for peole walking from ground level to roof level.

I make activity/stage area more open which is link with exhibition area. I have developed more about roofing area. Add hydroporic plant area on the roof garden, it can be outdoor exhibition area or outdoor tutorial classroom. And also I made another structure wall to prevent sunlight going into the exhibition. Between those twon wall, there have resting area.

The feedback from Murray this week is more positive. The layout of building is good and structure is good as well. Entry location is good. However, I still need to develop stage space and movable wall. Murray think the activity area is not good to use and it can have better way to use that space.

Week 11 Interior Design Research

I am start to think about how my interior design for my education centre. Therefore, I did some research about interior design for tutorial classroom, detial interior design and public/resting areas in the building. I think the interior design should comfortable and link with natural. It should let different age peole like it and feel interesting.

Week 11 Design Development

 Ground Floor

 

After last week feedback, I have exhcnaged the exhibition space and tutorial classrooms. And also I add more detial for the design. I change the main space exterior wall structure. Use concrete, steel and glass. These two walls are facing east and north. I am start to think about roof structure. I want to design green roof to link the building with natural environment around the site. People can go the roof garden from lecture room roof and tutorial classrom roof. But I am still think about how green roof working for the building which is link the interior functions and outside environment.

The feedbcak from Murray this week which is better than last week. The structure of exhibition space is good. But Murray worry about the sunlight will going into the exhibition space during afternoon and make inside very hot during the hot summer. And I need to develop the stage space. At this monment, the folding glass door in the stage space is not looks good and not working well. And also the function for stage is not good during the normal working day. So I still need to develop more on the exhibition spcae, green roof and stage space.

Week 10 Study Model

After the feedback from Murray, I am start to think my building laylout should be change. I use three box to represent stage space, exhibition space and tutorial/workshop classroom. The picture above which is show how those space can working together and make best result. How those layout can make good shady area and building structure.

After last week feedback, I am think the function of building and how big for each spaces in the building. I keep the stage area and structure the same with last week. I added lecture space with green roof. Tutorial classrooms in the central of the building and get openning facing the farming area to link indoor and outdoor activity for people. I designed exhibition space in the rising level to make more shady and cool area for the farming area.
However, the feedback from Murray is that I need to exchange the exhibition space and tutorial classrooms. Exhibition space should need in the central and need the entry. And it is not necessary to make exhibition space in the second level. All the space in the ground level which is better.
